Activity log
Activity is a single timeline of important events in your data file — imports, bank syncs, exports, unlocks and locks, and major data changes such as archiving an account. Open it from Settings → Activity.
Use Activity when you want to answer questions like “Did someone export my data?”, “When did this account last sync?”, or “When was this file unlocked?”
What Activity records
| Kind of event | Examples |
|---|---|
| Import | A file import finished or failed |
| Sync | A bank sync finished or failed |
| Export | A full export or saved-view export finished or failed |
| Security | Database unlocked or locked; failed unlock attempts (shown after the next successful unlock) |
| Data | Account archived, data file opened, license activated |
Events stay in your encrypted database on your computer. Nothing is sent to Big Picture servers by default.
Failed unlock attempts are stored locally while the database is locked, then appear in Activity after you unlock successfully.
What Activity does not record
Activity is not a full edit history. It does not log:
- Every transaction you add or edit
- AI chat messages
- Budget line changes
- Search queries
Those stay in their own screens (register, Chat, Budgets) or are not kept as a security timeline.
Append-only
You cannot edit or delete Activity rows from the app. The list grows as you work. (Older events may be pruned in a future release; for now they remain.)
Single timeline
Import and bank sync still have their own workflow history on the Import page and under Settings → Bank integration. Those views help you resume work. Activity is the place for a security-minded overview that also includes exports and unlocks.
