Edit a category

Rename, reorder, or archive categories you created. System categories (such as Uncategorized) cannot be renamed or archived.

Prerequisites​

  • Big Picture Money is unlocked
  • At least one non-system category exists (or use a category you added)

Steps​

Rename a category​

  1. In the left navigation, click Categories & Rules.
  2. Open the Categories tab.
  3. Find the category row and click Edit.
  4. Change Name and click Save.

Reorder categories​

  1. On the Categories tab, use ↑ and ↓ on a row to move it among its siblings.
  2. Sibling order is reflected in the category picker and on this page.

Archive a category​

  1. On the Categories tab, click Archive on a non-system category you no longer use.
  2. Archived categories are hidden from pickers but remain on historical transactions.

Expected result​

  • Renamed categories show the new name in the register and rules list
  • Reordered categories appear in the new position among siblings
  • Archived categories no longer appear in the category picker
